Mountainbike tour
7038 | Plamortrunde
A challenging but technically easy tour to the Panzersperren on the Plamort plateau and to the ‘photo rock’ with a view of Lake Reschen.
The tour starts at the cemetery of St Valentine's Church and links several regional highlights: Anti-tank barriers, bunkers, photo rocks and Lake Reschen. The climbs are easy to pedal, even if some sections are steeper than you might be used to.
History and modernity come together on the Plamort plateau. Although there was no fighting up here during the Second World War, all preparations were made for it, as the remains show: Bunker installations, anti-tank barriers, imprints of anti-aircraft defences. The present, on the other hand, is characterised by winding hiking trails, rest and relaxation areas around an artificial reservoir, the bunker facilities and trails for bikers as part of the 3-Länder Enduro Trails. And then there is the famous ‘photo rock’ with an unobstructed view of Lake Reschen and far into the Upper Venosta Valley as far as the highest peak in the Southern Eastern Alps: ‘King’ Ortler (3,905 m).
The return journey to Nauders begins with a descent on a well-maintained forest road to Reschen and the shores of Lake Reschen. From Reschen specifically on the Via Claudia Augusta, which has symbolised encounters, exchange and cooperation for 2000 years.
