Description
Experience the adventure of a glacier tour with a crossing of the glacier tongue to the Rauhekopfhütte on the imposing Gepatschferner in the Kaunertal. One of the last remaining glacier ice surfaces in the Alps. This two-day tour offers a unique combination of impressive landscapes, challenging ascents and unforgettable nature experiences.
Day 1: From the "Fernergries" parking lot - directly on the Kaunertal Glacier Road - you head through the valley formed by the glacier ice towards the glacier tongue. Equipped with crampons and harness, you enter the glacier tongue and marvel at the fascination of the glacier world as you ascend. Once you arrive at the rustic Rauhekopfhütte, you will set up camp. The afternoon is at leisure. Before dinner, the high alpine terrain around the hut offers plenty of space to switch off, meditate and linger.
Day 2: After breakfast at the hut, the day starts early up to the Gepatschferner glacier plateau. Enjoy the unique glacier landscape in the morning light and cross the Gepatschferner to the Zahn. Descent via the north ridge in easy ridge climbing to the Kaunertal glacier ski area. From there we return together to our starting point.
